About Library

This Library established in 2008, with the establishment of Shrimati Indira Mahadev Beharay College of Arts, Shriman Chandulal Sheth College of Commerce and Shrimati Shobhganatai Chandulal Sheth College of Science. Initially the library was located in the small room in the main building with no space for various sections. It was later on shifted to a separate building with spacious reading rooms, Stack room, Periodical Section, Internet Room etc. The new building is located Centre of college buildings and easily accessible by various departments. The new building of the library is spread over an area of 287.74 sq. ft. (Built up area).The Library has a good collection on diverse areas of knowledge such as Languages and Literature, Social Sciences, Commerce and Management, Pure and Applied Science etc. Library are administered by the Librarian, Mr Amol Kamble with the assistance of a Library Attendant with the help of a Library Advisory Committee.

Our library is continuously serves for the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college with following mission, vision and objectives

Mission:

The mission of the Library is to Make Student’s Overall Personality development and Carrier Programme to develop a Library as Information & Knowledge Centre.

Considering the mission, our library strives to

To make students as book friendly.
To develop good reading habits among the students & make them as excellent reader.
To develop positive attitudes, moral and social values among students.
To provide latest updates in the various fields through advance techniques of ICT.
To create a healthy environment for the students to study and increase the number of readers.

Objectives:

To build collection complementary to competitive exams to provide a competitive edge to students
To provide innovative services to the users to help them to achieve their academic goals
To adopt new technologies to improve the library services
To provide more and more access to the e-resources through the Internet
To participate in resource sharing (Library Consortium) programme to enrich the collection of the library

On working Days: 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
During Exams. : 7.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS

he User must be registered in the library.
The Book will be issued only for seven days.
Only one book will be issued against one borrow card.
Mute your cell phone while in the library.
Eating, drinking, chewing or smoking is prohibited in the library.
Observe silence in the library.
The library is not responsible for the patron’s personal property.
Computers are to be used for study & research purposes and any viewing of pornographic material is forbidden.

OUR LIBRARY SERVICES/FACILITIES

REFERNCE SERVICE

There are many reference books available in the library. With the help of OPAC you should find out the reference books and applied it. Take the help from Librarian when you have any problems.

2. CONTAINT SERVICE BY E-MAIL

The Reader should provide an index of the periodicals. It should be provided to the reader by their demanding. This service is available for teachers & researchers. If students want this service, kindly contact with the librarian.

3.COMPUTER SERVICE

Computer service is provided by the library. Students can use only study purpose.

4.INTERNET SERVICE

Internet service is provided to the students free of charge. Students should sign in the register and applied this facility.

5.OPEN ACCESS

Open Access system in the Library.

6.CLIPPING SERVICE

We filed important news, College activities news, articles, advertises regarding job, for the future reference.

7.INFORMATION DISPLAY

We displayed important information on the Library Notice Board.

8.USER ORIENTATION

For creating awareness on Library Resources, facilities and services among new users and thus to ensure optimum use we Organised Orientation Programme for the students beginning of the every academic year

9.COMPETITIVE EXAM BOOKS

Competitive exam books are provided to the students to prepare for M.P.S.C and U.P.S.C. Examination and guided with Competitive Exam Cell.

10.READING ROOM SERVICE/FACILITY

We provide the students precious hall peaceful and comfortable place for reading.

11.B.C.BOOK BANK SCHME

Text Books are available to students belonging to the category like S.C., S.T., N.T., D.T., S.B.C. for the academic year through B.C. Book bank Scheme of University of Mumbai.

OUR BEST PRACTICES

1. Computerization of library with Lib-Man software.

Inclusion of sufficient information about the library in the Library User Manual and Library Notice Board.

Displaying newspaper clipping on the notice board time to time.

Suggestion Box is placed in the Library.

The Library has organised books exhibition on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. S.R.Ranganathan on 9^th August every academic year.

Vachan Katta – From this scheme extra book is given to the students. Once a month students are called on the college Vachan Katta and discussed about the book.
