The accelerated pace and global scope of business today has made it extremely crucial for educational institutions to churn out those students who are leaders, who have mastered the latest concepts and practices and are also self-assured individuals, willing to take on any challenge in life. Until now, management programmes were imparted to graduate students from any stream. That is until the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) was introduced by the University of Mumbai in 1999. After completing BMS course, candidates can look for employment job opportunities as a Marketing Manager, Business Developer, etc. and can earn an average salary of INR 3 -8 LPA depending upon their experience and knowledge. In ICS College of Arts, Commerce and Science of Khed, Ratnagiri started this BMS Programme in the year 2010.The first batch was started with 20 number of students in the department. The department is always equipped with high qualified professors with the master’s Degree with the NET/SET qualification. students study a wide variety of subjects such as Finance, Management, Managerial Economics, Research, Production and quality management, Marketing and Brand management etc. Department conducts all the necessary activities needed for the students concerned with academics as well as extra-curricular. Department persistently strives to grow into a distinguishable position in Management Studies to create Business Graduates to become future business leaders, entrepreneurs, socially responsible professionals who fit into the dynamic corporate world with a global outlook. The curriculum is taught by distinguished faculties combining academic excellence and real world experience with dedication and commitment. The Department also believes that influential learning and teaching occurs under a shared spirit of respect which creates a passionate learning experience recognized for its warmth, energy and eminence.
Teaching-learning modes such as ICT tools were adopted by the Department for the teaching-learning process and subsequent semester examinations. Department is enhancing the quality of learning and teaching, meeting the learning style or needs of students and also improving the efficiency and effectiveness & improving the user-accessibility and time flexibility to engage learners in the learning process.
The Department conducts various workshops, seminars, guest lectures and Industrial visits for the students as well as faculty members. The department looks after business management techniques, entrepreneurship, trading, finance, business operations, administration, production, supply, and risk analysis. The department motivates the students to enhance their leadership skills and Interpersonal skills, sports and co-curricular activity participation and to develop their overall personality. It provides students with a vast knowledge of the changing world of management and enables students to adopt an integrated approach towards real-life situations and circumstances. BMS strengths gradually increased year by year from 20 to 72 from 2010 to 2023, 72 seats is the maximum seats to be allotted. The department works for all the overall improvement of the students enrolling in this program. The department arranges workshops, Industrial Visit, Consumer Visit, as per the requirement. The department’s enrolled students take active part in the NSS, NCC too. Necessary activities such as Tech Talk, PowerPoint presentation, seminars, Workshops regarding Management and marketing as well as finance are held to increase the potential of the students. BMS students are taught how to, and not what to think, and are encouraged to develop the quintessential skills of effective communication, motivation and group dynamics. The course aims to pursue knowledge hand in hand with the extra-curriculars with the aim of developing complete individuals with strong personal values. Seminars, workshops are held according to the syllabus as well as according to the upcoming trends in the market and the world. The cultural activities such as singing, dancing, mehendi designing, mimicry, monoacts, Poster making are also held by the department to enhance other skills of the students along with the academics. The department also conducts the additional course named Social Media Marketing of 3 Months duration from the year 2022-23.
The course includes the skills like Logo making, Template making and all other marketing aspects. The department focuses on the practical knowledge and goes with the ongoing trends in this Competitive world. The student’s suggestions as well as Grievances are never ignored by the teachers of the department.
BMS Department offers Library facilities for the students which has near about more than 500 Books available. The library has online as well as offline access. The library also provides Online free pdfs of the books which includes academics as well as non-academics. The library also provides Magazines, competitive examination books, Books for preparation of various entrance exams and so on. The library is always updated with the new edition of books every year. The Department secured First Rank in Talent Mania Arranged in Chiplun, Ratnagiri where there where competitions like poster making, Quiz, Poster Making, PowerPoint Presentation. The students took active part in the sports held at college level. The sports include Kabaddi, Kho- Kho, Cricket, Long Jump, High Jump, Carrom, Chess, etc. And secures rank too. Similarly, there is active participation in Cultural activities held at college level that are Poster making, Mehendi Competition, Rangoli, Bondala, etc. The events like TECHNO EVENT and TAKSH were arranged at college level where students were given an open space to explore their skills. The Activities like Poster making, PowerPoint Presentation, Tech-Talk were arranged to explore their professional skills. Where on the contrary, there where competitions like snake and ladder, quiz, fashion show to explore the extra curriculum side of the students. The department encourages students to take active part in all the activities held at college level as well as University level. Necessary Webinars are taken by the BMS department for the students which includes Academic as well as non- academic topics. The department secured prize of participation in the TAKSH event held at college level. Department of Management Studies has also taken an initiative to organize a Webinar on Digital Marketing which has helped in assisting the students in gaining strong conceptual & practical knowledge in the functional area of digital marketing. Department has also organized three days Entrepreneurship Development Workshop. The purpose of the course is that the students acquire necessary knowledge and skills required for organizing and carrying out entrepreneurial activities. The Sanstha, Management, teaching and non-teaching staff looks after the overall development of the students and aims at providing good quality education and best Career opportunities ahead.
